Mechanical, Electrical Testing Technician for Lab Support in San Diego

Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated testing technician to join our material characterization lab. They will be responsible for carrying out tests, measurements, maintaining lab equipment and ensuring smooth operation of the lab. This role requires a strong understanding of laboratory procedures, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The tests include Electrical, Mechanical, and Thermo-mechanical.

Daily Tasks:

• Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, recalibration of equipment, performing preventative maintenance and calling for repairs.
• Conducting and supporting tests and experiments.
• Writing reports, reviews and summaries.
• Setup and help to qualify new tools and equipment in lab.
• Mechanical-Thermomechanical Machines: DMA, DSC, TMA, TGA, Instron/DIC and Split Hopkinson Pressure bar.
• Attend trainings for new lab equipment and assist with training other lab members.
• Receiving, labeling and organizing samples for testing.
• Assist with designing/fabricating tooling components.

Desired Qualifications:

• Familiarity with a lab environment
• Experience working on material characterization equipment
• Ability to multitask
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• 3+ years of overall experience
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field is preferred
