We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer in our Medium Voltage Drives group to work in our Oak Creek, WI facility. The MV Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for product development and design for standard and value added medium voltage drive products to assist in achieving the growth and success of the corporate medium voltage drive business.
This role will provide technical direction, planning, and support on product implementation, detail design, certification, and design processes, and test equipment. Additionally, the MV Mechanical Engineer will assist product marketing, application engineering, manufacturing (global), training, and technical support in higher-level support and consulting requirements for priority projects. More specifically this role will:
- Design and modification to Solidworks models of Yaskawa’s Medium Voltage Drives
- Investigates, approves, and implements changes to product, via ECO, to resolve issues or to improve product design.
- Design/modify sheet metal and weldment drawings, as required, to YAI mechanical drawing standards.
- Create 2D parts drawings from 3D models to YAI mechanical drawing standards
- Generate/modify bills of materials in SAP MRP system.
- Troubleshoot assembly issues with mechanical designs on the factory floor.
- Perform mechanical strength calculations and/or simulations if required.
- Participate in Product Development System (PDS) review team. Work with team to continually monitor and improve the PDS as part of the company Quality Management System (QMS).
- Work with factory floor assemblers in troubleshooting parts/assembly issues
- Check designs and parts drawings of others in the mechanical design group
This position is very hands on and will allow you the opportunity to stand out and be recognized for your success. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, along with 5 or more years of experience. Excellent working knowledge of Solidworks, AutoCAD and sheet metal and welded structure design are keys to success in this position. The perfect candidate will have a general working knowledge of industrial automation as well as metal fabrication, forming and welding shop practices and procedures.
