Mechanical Engine Technician
Key Job Functions- Maintenance of engine lab equipment
- Assisting Engineering staff in testing of mechanical components
- Mount engines on test carts and install engines on dynamometer
- Fabricate components to install on test engines
- Diagnosing and repairing engine and test cell electrical problems
- Disassembly and reassembly of test engines as necessary
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma
- Associates degree or Automotive/Trade school graduate preferred
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with internal combustion engines and instrumentation
- Welding and fabrication experience
Requirements
- Must be able to understand a wiring schematic and diagnose electrical problems
- Good understanding of internal combustion engines with electronic controls and on-board diagnostics
- Able to efficiently disassemble and reassemble test engines
- High level of oral and written communication skills
- This position requires maximum occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds.
Preferred Skills
- Engine exhaust emissions knowledge
- Welding and fabrication skills
- TIG welding experience
- Machine shop experience
- ASE certifications
Position Type, Schedule and Travel
This is a full-time position with no travel. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, starting between 7-8 a.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand Must be able to lift X pounds regularly.
