We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with broad experience in product design, equipment design, or other mechanical systems to join our team in Ohio (Columbus, Cleveland, or Cincinnati). Experience in the automotive, commercial vehicle and other related industries are a plus. Experience in vehicular accident reconstruction (VAR) is essential. In this position you will apply your technical knowledge to help assess and determine the origin and cause of complex and unique problems for our clients. Responsibilities:Duties include conducting field investigations and performing mechanical failure/accident analysis involving various types of vehicles and mechanical equipment involved in industrial, construction, or traffic-related incidents. You will be gathering photographic evidence, conducting investigations to document onsite conditions and oversee field-testing. Assist in the determination of the cause, origin, and extent of mechanical building system and product failures. Duties involve the investigation and analysis of residential, commercial, and industrial facilities for the purpose of resolving claims and legal disputes. Assignments may include wet or dry facility mechanical systems investigations, vehicle system failures, and equipment or product failures.
You will work as part of a team, with other engineering specialties, to determine the root cause of an incident. You will perform timely accurate analysis, prepare reports, and present your findings to the client and other interested parties. You must be able to manage several projects simultaneously and be detail orientated. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential. Technical writing skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, are also essential.
Qualifications:- BS in Mechanical Engineering is required. MS in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
- Experience and training in accident reconstructions is required.
- ACTAR certification is a plus.
- 4+ years of experience, with engineering consulting experience a plus.
- P.E. license required. You must be able to gain P.E. reciprocity in additional states as needed.
- Must have strong technical writing skills.
- Must have strong computer software skills.
- Physically able to climb ladders, walk on uneven and unleveled surfaces, enter and work in tight spaces, and crawl around equipment and various types of vehicles during inspections.
- Project locations vary and will require out of town travel (mostly day trips and up to 10% overnight)
