About the Job
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for conceptualizing and designing automated equipment in accordance with customer and internal specifications. This role includes acting as the Mechanical Engineering Lead for small to medium-sized machines or any size replication project.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design cam, servo, and air-operated stations, and modify existing designs.
- Execute cam (drive) design.
- Ensure designs are functional, robust, and cost-effective.
- Incorporate standards and regulatory requirements using innovation and good judgment.
- Research and specify appropriate materials and purchased components.
- Create detailed drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials, organize release packages, and update drawings.
- Participate in internal and customer design reviews.
- Prepare pneumatic and timing diagrams and select appropriate sensors.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop functional and economical design solutions.
- Solve design or detail issues and update relevant documentation.
- Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.
- Integrate well within a team, demonstrating objectivity and openness to other views.
- Follow policies and procedures to meet ISO 9001 certification requirements.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal and international standards.
- Comply with the terms and conditions of the employee work-from-home policy.
- Set and maintain departmental goals aligned with company objectives.
- Support and participate in the quality management program.
- Provide necessary documentation and support for machinery operating manuals.
- Make recommendations for quality and cost improvements.
- Stay current with product developments.
- Travel or extend workday as required, up to 10% travel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, technology, or equivalent experience.
- 2-6 years of automation experience.
- Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD, 3D SolidWorks, or similar CAD systems.
- Proficient with computers and programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to operate fax machines, copiers, printers/plotters, etc.
- Proficient with inspection and measuring tools such as scales, calipers, and micrometers.
