Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer III to contribute to the development of our medical devices from concept through design and into volume manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in opto-mechanical systems and experience with precision optical devices, specifically in the context of in vitro diagnostics and blood analyzers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop medical products, focusing on mechanisms and actuators.
• Create and execute test plans and reports; design and analyze mechanical parts using SolidWorks.
• Utilize strong opto-mechanical knowledge to design precision optical systems and compact electromechanical devices.
• Work closely with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical and electrical components effectively; source and collaborate with engineering consultants, industrial designers, and manufacturers.
• Conduct engineering analysis and design validation testing; utilize CAE tools for thermal analysis, stress-strain evaluations, and impact assessments.
• Support ongoing engineering activities, manage engineering change orders (ECOs), and assist in fixture manufacturing and testing.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, with a focus on precision optical systems and medical device design.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and CAD tools, with the ability to manage complex product assemblies and integrate intricate ID surfaces.
  • Familiarity with thermal analysis, stress-strain analysis, and impact testing.
  • Broad knowledge of opto-mechanical components and systems, with experience in statistical tolerance analysis.
• Industry Knowledge: Experience with the design and requirements of medical devices is highly desirable.
