Responsibilities:- Use computer-aided design systems for all mechanical design and development.
- Maintain all engineering documentation related to any new designs and developments; including improvements to existing machine product lines, special applications and/or tooling solutions.
- Responsible for selecting machine parts, methods, processes, component parts, etc. related to new developments, improvements, modifications, etc. Maintain correct parts lists and upgrade as required.
- Be able to provide the latest technical information as required for other departments (i.e. Inside Sales, Production, Marketing, Purchasing, etc.) regarding mechanical components and assemblies, tooling options, technical information to support customers, etc.
- Responsible for organizing and distribution of all Engineering Change Notices released in North America.
- Generate engineering data in material masters and bill of materials and the procurement of purchased materials (parts, supplies, equipment and services) including the coordination of these efforts with Production Planning and Supply Chain to secure materials within each project timeline in SAP)
- Responsible for making sure all drawings (both internal and those created by other Engineering departments) can be effectively manufactured utilizing UGG’s standards and specifications for machined components, weldments, fabrications, etc. related to standard machines, as well as special applications.
- Work with production plans to secure parts, materials, special tooling, etc. so that they are available in a timely manner.
- Responsible for tracking and maintaining deadlines of tasks assigned. Inform the Engineering Manager of any problems encountered on a daily basis that could cause or relate to a deviation in the planned schedule of assigned tasks.
- Inform the Engineering Manager about problems associated within the Engineering department or interaction with other departments as to special projects, customer orders, development or design tasks assigned that could jeopardize machine deliveries or obligations made to customers.
- Always work in a professional manner toward customers, suppliers and other employees and use discretion in releasing new technical information that is not public knowledge.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent training and/or a minimum of 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Advanced knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD systems – preference AutoCAD and NX.
- Experience with SAP MRP system
- Must possess a proven ability to develop and implement standard engineering practices, as well as provide detailed documentation upon project completion
- Strong initiative and integrity as well as strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to successfully work independently and within teams
- Self-motivated and the ability to demonstrate creative thinking
