Job Description:
Our client, a well-established and locally owned engineering firm in Austin, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (PE/PM) with experience in HVAC and/or plumbing design to join their expanding team. This is a full-time, direct hire position offering competitive compensation, benefits, bonuses, 401K, and PTO.
Responsibilities:
- Design, calculate, and produce AutoCAD and/or Revit files and construction documents to support MEP engineering for various building types, including commercial offices, K-12 schools, municipal buildings, healthcare facilities, and multifamily residences, with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
- Manage projects of varying sizes, including establishing schedules, assigning resources, monitoring performance, and ensuring projects stay on time and within budget.
- Maintain and organize all mechanical engineering documents, schedules, and related project files.
- Review mechanical design submittals and conduct site visits as needed to resolve any design issues, conflicts, or questions.
- Provide project status updates to internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Develop new business opportunities by building relationships with existing and prospective clients.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with at least 6 years of experience in HVAC or plumbing design and project management; a master’s degree is a plus.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is required; familiarity with HVAC modeling software such as TRACE700, CHVAC7.0, and/or AIRMaster is a plus.
- Experience in HVAC and plumbing design and project management for commercial, multifamily, educational, healthcare, and institutional buildings is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse range of stakeholders, from subcontractors to project owners
