About the Job
Our Portland office is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer with broad experience in product design, equipment design, MEP, fire protection systems, or HVAC systems. In this position, you will apply your technical knowledge to help assess and determine the origin and cause of complex and unique problems for our clients. You will draw upon your engineering training, design experience, and reasoning skills to form opinions and conclusions to assist our clients.
Responsibilities:Duties in this key position involve the investigation and analysis of system, component, product and material failures, and performing failure analysis involving various types of mechanical systems ranging from consumer products/appliances and automotive failures to industrial machinery and building systems. You will work as part of a team, with other engineering specialties, to determine the root cause of an incident. You will perform timely analysis, prepare reports, and present your findings to the client and other interested parties. You must be able to manage several projects simultaneously and be detail orientated. You must enjoy learning about new topics and be excited about expanding your technical skills and knowledge horizons. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential. Report writing skills, including the use of Microsoft Word, are also essential.
Qualifications:- BS in Mechanical Engineering is required; MS in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
- 8+ years of professional engineering experience: engineering consulting and/or previous forensic experience is a plus.
- PE license in Oregon; licensure in other states is a plus.
- Must have strong technical writing skills.
- Must have strong computer software skills.
- Vehicle accident reconstruction experience – Bosch Crash Data Retrieval certification, ACTAR certification and/or ASE mechanic certification is a plus.
- Physically able to climb ladders, walk on uneven and unleveled surfaces, enter and work in tight spaces, and crawl around equipment during inspections.
