About the Job
- Mechanical Engineer responsible for the design and support of new and existing products
- Assist in the product design and development of mechanical systems and components
- Participate in and support Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) activities; Identify potential design-related failures and risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Support the prototyping and structural and thermal testing and analysis of designs to validate functionality and ensure product performance
- Assist in the planning and execution of Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize product design and testing
- Analyze testing results and provide input for design modifications based on DFMEA and DOE outcomes
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to streamline production and integrate Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Automation (DFA) principles into the design process
- Assist in root cause analysis and troubleshooting efforts in alignment with APQP principles
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create 3D models and engineering drawings
- Prepare and maintain accurate engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
- Assist in the development of product manuals and technical reports, integrating DFMEA insights
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, industry standards, and quality requirements in design work
- Stay informed about industry best practices, especially in DFMEA, APQP, DOE, DFM, and emerging technologies
- Engage in training and development programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge
- Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams (manufacturing, research and development, and quality assurance) throughout the design process
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelors' degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required
- Strong academic record with a passion for mechanical design
- Basic understanding of engineering principles and CAD tools
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new engineering challenges
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook and Internet Explorer
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Auto CAD) a plus
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
