We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with broad experience in design and construction of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) and HVAC systems, product liability and/or the investigation of failures for MEP systems and/or equipment. In addition, experience (or interest) in Fire Origin and Cause analysisinvolving a myriad of incidents including residential, commercial structure, vehicle, equipment and marine fires would be a plus.
In this position the candidate will apply their technical knowledge to help assess and determine the origin and cause of complex problems for our clients. This will require the candidate to draw upon both their professional and forensic engineering experience to investigate mechanical failures in a variety of disciplines and formulate opinions and conclusions to assist our clients.

Responsibilities:In this position you will apply your technical knowledge to help assess and determine the origin and cause of complex and unique problems for our clients. Experience including MEP design, appliances, fire suppression systems, fuel distribution, residential and commercial HVAC, and fire origin and cause experience is valuable. You will investigate equipment, products, pipe, appliance, material, and systems failures. You will perform timely accurate analysis, prepare reports, and present your findings to the client and other interested parties. You must be able to manage several projects simultaneously and be detail orientated. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential. Report writing skills are essential.
Qualifications:- BS in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- California PE required.
- CFEI or CFI-IAAI preferred.
- Knowledge of fire ground procedures, including fire investigative duties a plus.
- Experience in fire and explosion investigation and analysis in accordance with NFPA 921 is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable form of transportation is a must.
- Must be outgoing and able to interact with staff, clients, and home/business owners with respect.
- Must be able to perform under pressure and meet deadlines while balancing the needs of multiple projects at one time.
- You must possess excellent verbal, communication skills and technical writing abilities.
- Travel in local proximity to the office with the ability to supplement our national staff in response to catastrophic events is sometimes required.
- Must possess an open attitude and willingness to learn and develop skills as a forensic engineer.
- Physical ability to perform all of the following functions is required: Climb ladders, walk on steep or high roofs, enter and work in confined spaces, work outdoors in hot or cold weather, lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must understand the use of necessary safety equipment.
- Perform duties that may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, or squatting for prolonged periods of time.
