Summary:
A Mechanical Estimator / Sheet Metal is responsible for analyzing project specifications and blueprints to estimate costs for mechanical and sheet metal installations. The role also involves assessing project risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing cost-effective solutions to meet client and project requirements This includes preparing detailed material, labor, and equipment estimates, reviewing drawings for accuracy, and coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Summary:

The role also involves assessing project risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing cost-effective solutions to meet client and project requirements This includes preparing detailed material, labor, and equipment estimates, reviewing drawings for accuracy, and coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future projects
- Consult with clients, vendors, internal departments, and construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
- Prepare estimates for management to support planning, organizing, and scheduling work
- Analyze blueprints and documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
- Review contracts and bid documents to understand the project scope and ensure accurate project turnover
- Participate in walk-throughs, pre-bid, and scope clarification meetings
- Perform quantitative take-offs and enter data into estimating software
- Prepare scope letters and proposals for potential projects
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors
- Coordinate with the Engineering Department as needed
- Ensure all estimating documents are centrally saved in the company's confidential drive
- Assist project managers with takeoffs and pricing changes
- Escalate critical or sensitive issues to the Estimating Manager with recommended solutions
- Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs
- Perform additional duties as required by the company or as directed by executives.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the Construction Industry is required
- Previous experience with Estimating is required
- Previous experience with Sheet Metal is a plus
- High school diploma or GED required
- Strong knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation
- Familiarity with federal, state, and city regulations and guidelines
- Microsoft Office & PDF Viewer experience
- AutoCAD Fabrication, EstMEP, Quotesoft experience.
