Title of Position:
Mechanical Engineer
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
Licenses Professional Engineer
Travel:
10%
Experience:
5+ years minimum or related experience
Responsibilities
o Review submittals, RFIs, change orders.
o Perform site visits.
o Document and publish observation reports and punch list items.
o Coordinate building service with power company.
o Perform energy code compliance calculations.
o Perform energy modeling for code compliance and LEED certification.
o Review code requirements pertinent to the design.
o Perform heating, cooling load and other engineering calculations.
o Perform exhaust and ventilation calculations.
o Perform air and water pressure drop calculations, air balance calculations, water volume calculations.
o Design duct air systems, hydronic system and fuel oil system layouts.
o Size ductwork and hydronic piping.
o Select mechanical equipment utilizing software and catalogs: diffusers, pumps, fans, hydronic specialties, heaters, heat trace, heaters, air conditioning systems, fuel oil specialties, etc.
o Document equipment schedules.
o Document basis of design requirements for project.
o Develops flow diagrams.
o Documents details in contract documents.
o Documents building management system requirements including sequence of operations, control diagrams, control points.
o Review Architectural, Civil and Technology drawings, identify and communicate coordination items to project manager.

Responsibilities
- Adhere to Sutton Engineering, LLC core values and standards.
- Design Mechanical/Plumbing systems for diverse markets (mission critical, communications, commercial, government, etc.).
- Perform site surveys. Field verification and documentation of existing systems.
- Coordinates and communicates Mechanical/Plumbing systems with other departments and disciplines.
- Utilize CAD/REVIT to document design as needed.
- Communicate and coordinate drawing development with Production Department.
- Communicate with equipment vendors for selecting equipment.
- Coordinate development of drawings with designers, production department and other engineers.
- Documents project specifications.
- Develop design concepts.
- Identify roadblocks during design and communicate with Project Manager, Engineer of Record and Director of Engineering.
- Responsible for assisting during construction administration phase:
o Review submittals, RFIs, change orders.
o Perform site visits.

- Expert of industry-standard and local codes.
- Proficient in MEANS for construction cost estimates.
- Ability to optimize design to meet energy standards, customer expectations and customer budget.
