We are currently seeking a team member who believes in the “extra mile” philosophy to fulfill our Mechanical Parts Specialist role.
The Mechanical Parts Specialist is responsible for supplying and managing replacement parts that are needed to service Snider’s mechanical customers. The parts specialist will maintain the right amount and level of stock, as well as ensure their store’s service and repair needs are properly met. The parts specialist is also responsible for managing employees who assist in delivering and managing parts and maintaining the ship tool inventory and necessary repairs.
What You’ll Do on a Typical Day:
- Complete responsibility over managing proper parts inventory to supply both in-shop technicians, as well as mobile service trucks.
- Manage both core and return tracking system to ensure a profitable operation.
- Responsible for managing and reducing the non-movement inventory amount.
- Responsible for the department’s operational practices.
- Manage all assigned parts room employees that assist in the parts area, as well as delivering parts throughout the day.
- Properly code OSP, inventory, and supplies invoices to ensure proper allocation for corporate and inventory purposes.
- Properly and efficiently track all parts available and on order with ETA system.
- Keeping the service office, shop supervisor, and techs up-to-date on status of parts.
- Gives detailed and accurate quotes with all necessary add on parts to complete a job.
- Check and monitor inventory on a daily basis to prevent depletion of parts commonly used.
- Effectively communicate all necessary information with the techs in order to ensure proper part is ordered and/or received.
- Manage and operate the DPF machine and the cleaning of DPF and DOC filters.
- Maintain proper record keeping of parts signed in and out.
- Ability to develop and follow action plans to ensure customer enthusiasm and Parts Department profitability.
- Responsible for understanding and providing management with inventory reports, as needed.
- Subject matter expert on parts pricing and procedures.
- Responsible for the security of inventory and for analyzing the quality of parts.
- Conducts daily reviews of parts room/warehouse, parts trucks, and equipment in order to ensure safety, compliance, cleanliness, and organization.
- Ensures branch has sufficient resources such as personnel, material, and equipment.
- Follow all safety rules, wear proper PPE, and demonstrate safety conscious mindset.
- Demonstrate excellent attendance, show up to work on time and in the correct uniform.
- Adheres to all policies, procedures, and values of Snider Fleet Solutions.
Work will be in the local branch office, service shop, and warehouse environment. This will be at a mechanical and/or commercial truck service center. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and the noise level is usually moderate to high.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Education or Experience:
- Associate's Degree in Business or other related fields; four-year degree preferred and/or equivalent work experience.
- At least 3-5 years' experience within the industry or related management position.
- Familiarity with Paylocity and AS400 software is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience with inventory monitoring practices.
- Must have a clean driving record.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Valid Class C Driver's License or state(s) equivalent and must be insurable to drive by company standards.
- Federal Annual and Brake Inspector certification preferred.
- Commercial TIA certification required after six months of employment.
- Medium/Heavy Truck ASE certifications or the equivalent preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen.
- Safety conscious at all times.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and the ability to learn and operate other software (AS400, SAP, Paylocity, BTN, etc.)
- Must have strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as close attention to detail.
- Ability to cycle inventory, run reports, and communicate with upper management.
- Reliable and dependable with self-initiative.
- Ability to multi-task, work effectively under pressure and time constraints.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interact with all levels within the organization and client base.
- Ability to understand the top 30 customer’s portfolio, as well as the top 10 potential.
- Superior customer service and communication skills (both written and verbal).

- Must have a general working knowledge of both diesel and gasoline powered class 5 through 8 heavy trucks and competency on terminology, components, and repairs.
- Knowledge of fleet operations and maintenance reporting.
- Proficient understanding of VMRS codes and TMC recommended practices.
- Knowledge of OEM and aftermarket parts/suppliers within the transportation/mechanical industry.
