Intertek is looking for a Mechanical/Rotating Inspector to join our US Site Construction team in Buras, LA!
The Mechanical/Rotating Inspector is responsible for ensuring that the Project Quality Plan in conjunction with Project Execution Plan is developed and implemented. This role will promote quality awareness throughout the organization, emphasizing excellence, continuous improvement, and corrective action to influence the overall success of company business. Duties:
- Pipe Spool Assembly & Installation:
- There will be quite a bit of small-bore pipe fabrication so this individual must ensure contractor QC is verifying spools are cleaned to project requirements prior to installation and that pipe spool assembly is being performed to the project detail drawings and is sitting properly anchored in the pipe supports and that all in-line and branch valves, meters, Spec Blinds, Bleed rings, etc. are installed in the correct orientation and tagged properly. Drain lines sloped in correct direction etc.
- ASME PCC-1 Bolted Joint Assembly:
- Experienced in supervising the assembly of bolted flange joints ensuringthat Contractor QC is verifyingthe assembly is being performed in accordance with the approved Build It Tight procedure and ASME PCC-1 tolerances.
- Field Flange Machining:
- Ensuring that Contractor QC is inspecting every flange face and ensuring that there are no rejectable surface discontinuities i.e., scratches, gouges, scrapes etc. as specified by the project and industry Codes ASME B16.5,ASME B16.47 and ASME PCC-1.
- All rejected flanges will need field machined to acceptable tolerances and the reports reviewedand made part of the permanent record.
- Rotating Equipment:
- As these modulesare supposed to be completeand all the rotating equipment alreadyinstalled etc. this role will be primarily preservation of the equipment, punchlist completion verification and if there are issueswhere rotating equipment inlet and outlet flanges must be disturbed individual must be able to witness the reassembly of those flanges ensuring no pipe strain and alignment issuess
- Mechanical Completion Walkdowns:
- Individual will be responsible for walking down the system ISO's, P&ID's ensuring system is mechanically complete
- Issuing punches to responsible parties for closure and once completed signing off System Mechanical Completion Certificates prior to system being handed to Commissioning.
- Insulation Installation:
- Ensure that all Contractor QC has walked down and verified lines are complete prior to installing Insulation. Insulation is to be verified installed per project requirements.
- Preservation and Maintenance:
- Ensure Contractor is performing preservation and maintenance activities on mechanical systems i.e., Nitrogen blankets on vessels and piping, scheduled rotation and preservation activities on rotating equipment.
- Ensure that work is being done per the "shall" requirements of the equipment manufacturers Preservation procedures.
Physical Requirements for this role:
- Must be able to walk long distances
- Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl
- Must be able to stand for extended durations
- Must be able to reach in all directions
- Must have good visual acuity with regards to color, depth perception and field vision
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold temperatures
- Must be alert and able to determine job related hazards and recognize when hazards change
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Preferably holds current certification in Swagelok and Parker tubing fitting installation (Will accept expired certification depending on experience
Requirements:
- Documented evidence of PCC-1 training - Preferred
- At least 10 years of industry experience as a Millwright Supervisor, comfortable verifying that the Contractor is adhering to Project and Industry Code requirements verifying and completing the approved ITP.
- Proficient Microsoft Office Suite computer skills.
