NOTE: This is a full remote, 40-hour/week contract position expected to start in early October 2024 and run through May/June 2025 and possibly beyond.
Position Summary:
The plant mechanical systems organization generates technical requirements and advances the design of the balance of plant mechanical systems within a power plant utilizing modular power modules. The person in this position supports the advancement of the plant design by generating engineering reports and system requirement documents in accordance with procedures and applicable project-specific requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience with design, operation, and equipment associated with a variety of balance of plant systems including steam turbines, feedwater, main steam, process utilities, and HVAC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review engineering specifications, and other documentation that communicate the design requirements of components, systems, and structures associated with balance of plant systems.
- Plan, organize, and perform complex assignments in a team environment.
- Act as technical lead for various balance of plant mechanical systems. Additionally, support design partner technical requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills, Qualifications, and Abilities:
- Education/Certification: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year accredited college or university is required. A PE license in mechanical engineering is desired.
- Experience: Minimum five years of relevant, full-time professional experience is required. Demonstrated knowledge in the following is also required:
- Fluid system design, preferably in the nuclear industry.
- Operation of fluid systems in a nuclear power plant.
- Applying regulatory requirements to the design of nuclear power plant systems.
- Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
