Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. This position will be located at NASA’s Langley Research Center.

Responsibilities:Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will join a team to operate and maintain mechanical systems/equipment in support of wind tunnels at NASA LaRC safely, effectively, and efficiently. Shall follow safety policies and procedures and perform all work according to existing policies and procedures while maintaining a high standard of quality and workmanship in performing the duties. Working knowledge of safety practices common to industry including FOD control and LOTO (OSHA Lockout/ Tagout program) is an added advantage. Experience in operating and maintaining rotating machinery, hydraulic and pneumatic system, pumps, valves and cooling water systems is desirable. Other equipment operated on includes but is not limited to, industrial forklifts, man-lifts and cranes. Will perform preventive maintenance on, inspection of, and operate equipment per documented procedures. Must be able to read relevant technical drawings and specifications. Relevant military training or aviation maintenance training is a plus.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
U.S. Citizenship required. Two (2) years of college with courses in engineering, mathematics, or science, and four (4) years relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of relevant education/experience for a total of six (6) years of experience.

Office Environment (20%). Test/Industrial Environment – May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, high energy sources, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals and industrial facilities.(75%)
Travel between facilities and during test operations may be required and may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment and chemical operations (5%)
Physical Requirements
Must have sufficient mobility to enter confined spaces, crawl into or onto various assemblies while maintaining a clear vision of safety is required (25%) Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants and the like (35%) Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Equipment and Machines
Facility operations display/keyboards/mechanical/electrical control/HMI, standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, copier, etc.) (30%) Operate appropriate equipment; devices, fabricates and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies for products, such as industrial equipment and machinery, power equipment, servo systems, machine tools, and measuring instruments. Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization and quality control.
