Roles and Responsibilities:
A diesel mechanic at a Chevron refinery is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of diesel-powered equipment and vehicles essential to refinery processes. They perform regular inspections, diagnose issues, and conduct necessary repairs on a variety of machinery, including generators, pumps, compressors, and vehicles. Preventive maintenance is a key aspect of their role, ensuring continuous operation and preventing unexpected breakdowns. They use advanced diagnostic tools to troubleshoot problems and adhere strictly to safety standards and environmental regulations. Accurate documentation and reporting of all maintenance activities are crucial, as well as collaborating with other team members and providing training to junior staff. Overall, their work ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable functioning of the refinery's diesel-powered systems.
Below are some tasks for a diesel mechanic:
1. INSPECTION OF WIRING.
2. TERMINAL PANELS, ELECTRICAL PLUG-INS, CONTACTS, CONNECTIONS, INSULATION, ETC.
3. VERIFY PROPER OPERATION OF GAUGES, WARNING LAMPS, VOLTMETERS, SWITCHES, BREAKERS, ETC.
4. INSPECT FUEL INJECTION PUMP AND MOUNTING HARDWARE FOR LOOSENESS.
5. INSPECT TURBOCHARGER MOUNTING HARDWARE FOR LOOSENESS, INSPECT TURBOCHARGER TURBINE WHEEL VANES AND HUB FOR CRACKS, DAMAGE OR MISSING VANES, LOOSENESS, DIRT OR BLOCKAGE (IF APPLICABLE).
6. INSPECT FUEL LINES.
7. INSPECT BELTS FOR WEAR AND PROPER TENSION.
8. CHECK THE BELT TENSIONER BEARING AND ARM FOR PROPER OPERATION (IF APPLICABLE).
9. CHANGE OUT LUBE OIL AND FILTER.
10. GREASE UNIVERSAL OUTPUT SHAFT.
11. PERFORM COOLING SYSTEM AIR PRESSURE TEST TO CHECK COOLANT EXCHANGERS FOR LEAKAGE
1. THE TASKS LISTED BELOW SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS PART OF ANY SERVICE.
2. CHECK ANTI-FREEZE CONCENTRATION USING A REFACTOMETER.
3. DRAIN AND REPLACE ANTI-FREEZE IF CONCENTRATION IS ABOVE 3 UNITS.
4. ATTACH SERVICE REPORT TO TASK.
5. SERVICE COMPANY MUST CONTACT MAINTENANCE TEAM LEAD TO COMPLETE OUT TASK TO GET CREDIT FOR COMPLETING PM
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
4/10 work schedule
Must have a valid driver s license and current state required minimum vehicle insurance coverage to drive onto Client and Company property.

Pay Range:
The pay range for this position is $40.00- $64.00 per hour; however, the pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This pay information is being provided pursuant to applicable law and is based in part on market location.
