Summary
Performs a variety of laboratory tests on blood, tissue and body fluids using both automated and manual methods. Ensures accurate, timely reporting of lab test results in order to assist medical staff in patient care. Must be supervised by a licensed Medical Technologist or Supervisor in order to perform highly complex testing.
Responsibilities
Processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens; reviews and reports lab results.

Performs operational duties, maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment
Acts as resource to other laboratory personnel.
Additional responsibility includes: Assisting with new equipment validation and implementation; Employee training and competency assessment; Regulatory compliance responsibilities for CAP, TCJ, AABB or other agencies, quality assurance, quality control and instrument maintenance.
Education
Required: Minimum of Associate's degree, but Bachelor’s Degree preferred from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology
Experience
Required: 2 or more years as a medical technologist in an acute care facility with demonstration of increasing responsibilities
Preferred: Minimum of 2 years Microbiology experience
Certifications
Required: Florida Medical Technologist Licensure
