ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide prescribed meds to Residents as instructed by nurse delegation.
- Verify the identity of a resident before administering treatment or serving food to ensure that appropriate care is provided to the correct resident.
- Assist residents with dental and oral care.
- Assist in preparing residents for meals (toileting, hand washing, taking to/from dining room, serving, placing clothing protectors and supervising in dining room). Assist residents during meals with eating as assigned per care plan and assignment sheets. Perform after meal care as required (cleaning residents’ hands, face, clothing, and teeth).
- Serve extra nourishment in accordance with established care procedures. Serve drinking water as required.
- Dress residents neatly in their own clothing, assisting them as necessary.
- Report all complaints and concerns to the nurse.
- Immediately report any resident who is leaving the premises or who has left the premises to the nurse.
- Report any resident abuse (harsh/abusive language, unnecessary roughness) or suspected abuse to nurse immediately.
- Watch for and report any changes in room temperature, ventilation, or lighting.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit. Support residents in arranging their living space to the resident’s satisfaction to foster “home” environment.
- Report all hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents, and incidents regardless of how minor to the nurse immediately.
- Check, report, and document bowel movements and character of stools as directed.
- Chart required information on nursing order flow sheets (Food & fluid Intake studies, Intake and Output, Bladder/Bowel training program, Vital signs and Weight flow sheets as instructed).
- Receive assignments and check residents’ schedule
- Perform all assigned duties in accordance with established policies and procedures, nursing care procedures, and safety rules and regulations
- Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean, and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks and at shift’s end.
- Report on and off duty as scheduled and in appropriate attire.
- Keep floors dry and free of unnecessary equipment and supplies to prevent accidents.
- Collaborate with residents to develop schedule of daily care based on resident preferences, history/lifestyle and integrate scheduling of daily care into resident care plan.
- Determine approaches for residents to remain as independent as possible.
- Incorporate residents’ recreation preferences/schedules into daily plan of care.
- Review work procedures and operational problems in order to determine ways to improve service, performance, and/or safety.
- Communicate concerns to RCC or DNS on Residents care. Contacting DNS or Nurse on-call for emergencies.
- Process paperwork needs when sending Resident to hospital.
- Ensure logs are completed and accurate during shift.
- Develop positive relationships with residents and families.
- Work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers and residents.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Belief that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior
- Is a committed Christian who is dedicated to continued spiritual growth and development as evidenced through a growing personal walk with God (e.g. daily spiritual rhythms of prayer, fellowship, Bible study, etc).
- Prayerfully seeks God’s will in their own lives and in their ministry at CRISTA.
- Engages our ministry including staff and colleagues through prayer, participation in spiritual practices, leading devotionals and other spiritual practices.
- Affirms, aligns with and supports CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Statement (CCC).
- Conducts themselves in a manner which reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
- Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.
- High school graduate, GED or equivalent.
- WA state NAC license in good standing.
- CPR/First Aid card.
- Nurse Delegation Core and Mental Health/Dementia Certification.
- Read, write, communicate in and interpret English at a functional level.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience as a NAC in LTC or other related health care setting.
- Food handlers permit.
