Hours for this position are: Day shift (mostly), M-F (mostly).
Norwood Crossing is a nonprofit healthcare organization specializing in quality senior care. Our facility is located on the northwest side of Chicago in the quaint neighborhood of Norwood Park. Our organization is seeking a Medicaid Coordinator. Our ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of the Illinois Medicaid program application and recertification process, the MEDI system and the MLTSS and MMAI programs.
Responsibilities
- Complete with new applications, requests for additional information, annual re-certifications and change in status.
- Track status of pending Medicaid cases with DHS and provide additional information as requested.
- Provide additional documentation and follow up as required for cases sent to the Office of the Inspector General.
- Monitor the outcome of completed cases and determine if entitlement is correct.
- Work with DHS caseworker to ensure timely payment of benefits and resolve any issues related to ongoing payment.
- Attend all hearings/appeals related to Medicaid applications.
- Maintain log of pending Medicaid applications and enter notes in billing system (Point Click Care).
- Process admissions after application is approved and monitor enrollment in a managed care plan on an ongoing basis.
- Keep management team informed of Medicaid approvals, pending or other issues with cases that may arise.
- Assist residents/families with acquiring the necessary documentation needed to complete a Medicaid application. Provides assistance with obtaining Social Security information, life insurance valuation reports, banking documents, investment and/or annuity account reports, medical insurance, pre-need burial information, cemetery deeds, and stocks/bonds valuation and surrender information.
- Remain current with Medicaid regulatory changes and incorporate those changes into workload, including any changes to Managed Care payment model.
- Work with Accounting Department to track spend downs, obtain Accounts Receivable history and referrals about residents who may need to apply for Medicaid within the next twelve months.
- Communication with resident/families is critical.
- Perform other assigned tasks, both related and unrelated to essential duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum two years' experience processing SNF Medicaid applications.
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational skills
- High level of PC literacy is required, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with Point Click Care preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interface with co-workers, residents and families.
- Flexibility and adaptability to the demands and requirements of a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
