Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with care according to YH policy and procedures, demonstrate clinical competence in primary care specific procedural skills, treatments, patient/caregiver education, and acts as patient advocate in the delivery and coordination of patient care.
- Performs initial patient intake rooming of patients, obtain/review patient personal/medical/ medication/allergy history, collection of vital signs, height/weight, complete health screening tools and complete documentation.
- Works with Care Access team to support patient scheduling, follow-up, and continuity of care.
- Coordinates with Care Access team and Pre-Anaesthesia Screening Clinic for ongoing and coordination of care for new and established patients.
- Perform various data entry and information retrieval tasks using computerized patient record systems. Sort, file, forward, and scan information into electronic record systems as directed.
- Follow-up on test results by checking for outstanding results, routing to provider for review and following up with patients as directed by Provider.
- Performs lab work; draw specimens, understand specimen requirements and processing.
- Provide optimum customer service as a member of the care team in person, by phone, or other supported patient messaging system acting as a liaison between the patient and clinical team to provide exceptional patient experiences.
- Organize exam rooms, set up for procedures, do general cleaning and office upkeep, assist with quality monitoring/record keeping/inventory of site equipment/supplies.
- Must have the ability to organize and multitask and remain calm and personable in a face paced setting to support the timely flow.
- Provides efficient and effective care working with Providers during clinical sessions, as a reliable, flexible, and dependable team member.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the dynamics of a constantly changing health care environment.
- Collaborate with other health care providers, physicians, clinical staff, and support staff regarding patient needs.
- Demonstrate competency in the entire registration process. Create registration accounts for all new and established patients, verify, collect, and update required insurance information, emergency contact and Primary Care information, as well as, collect co-pays for each visit, as needed.
- As a member of the care team, the Medical Assistant is accountable for the clinical practice, outcomes and success of patient care and experience in the Walk-In setting.

Requirements:
Graduate of an approved/certified Medical Assistant Training Program will consider previous years of experience in a Medical Assistant role or other Allied Health credentials. CNA’s welcome to apply.
Associate’s degree or higher education preferred, high school diploma or GED also accepted. Two or more years related experience and/or training in the practice setting preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
