Since 1987, Bienvivir has served the frail seniors of El Paso, Texas through the provision of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (“PACE”).
PACE is a unique managed care benefit for frail seniors (referred to as participants) age 55 and older who are certified by the state as needing nursing home level care and who reside in a PACE service area. PACE programs coordinate and provide comprehensive medical and support services so that participants can remain independent and stay in their homes for as long as safely possible.

Bienvivir is currently accepting applications for the following position:
MEDICAL ASSISTANT
Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager, the Medical Assistant provides supportive services for participant care in the clinic. Responsible for the daily performance of participant care in the areas of vital signs, blood sugars, EKG’s, venipuncture, and other designated screening tests with appropriate documentation in the medical record.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Carries out all Primary Care Provider (PCP) orders to include blood glucose checks, EKG’s, etc.
2. Obtaining vital signs and weights on all participants to be seen in the clinic, documenting the results in the EMR and reporting the results to the Participant Manager.
3. Responsible for obtaining vital signs and weights on all clients, monthly, to include blood sugars on all diabetics, documenting the results in the EMR and reporting any abnormalities to the Participant Manager.
4. Communicates with the Participant Manager if participant is absent or refuses to be seen, to include rescheduling of clinic appointments.
5. Communicates with Dayroom staff, Transportation Department and Home Health Department (if applicable) of participants that cannot leave on their scheduled trip. Assists in coordinating transportation for clients that may have a delayed trip.
6. Ensures all blood work is drawn. Coordinates with the clinic Data Entry Clerk to schedule lab draws in the clinic for clients that attend the clinic. Coordinates with the contracted lab for all outside lab draws are done in the clients place of residence. Reschedules labs as needed.
7. Ensures the accuracy of all lab requisitions and sends all applicable paperwork to the lab. Communicates with the PCP and Participant Manager for any lab related concerns or inquiries.
8. Follows up on all lab results to ensure lab reports are uploaded in EMR. Ensure the timely receipt of all STAT labs. Communicate with the Participant Manager if there are any issues or concerns with retrieving lab results.
9. Responsible for scheduling, retrieving results and updating the EMR for all mobile x-rays and podiatry orders.
10. Assists the Podiatrist with all podiatry procedures to include set up.
11. Maintains a flow of participants through the clinic according to the daily clinic schedule and assists PCP with exams, to include interpretation.
12. Facilitates Psychiatry appointments.
13. Documents on the MSURs daily, according to PACE guidelines, to include labs, vital signs and PCP and nurse contacts.
14. Assists clients with some ADL tasks while in the clinic (to include eating and toileting)
15. Performs quality control checks on glucometers, urinalysis machine and COVID 19 testing devices as scheduled.
16. Transports clients under investigation for infections to the clinic isolation room and follows Infection Control protocols to include management of the NQ500 machine.
17. Ensures exam rooms are kept clean and organized, restocks supplies as needed and re-orders supplies in a timely manner. Maintains the Oxygen storage room. Monitors clinic equipment in the exam rooms and triage area to ensure equipment is in working order and reports any concerns to the Clinic Manager.
18. Sends and tracks supplies to the clients place of residence to include facilities.
19. Enter referrals into Plexis as assigned and follow up on all pending claims.
20. Retrieve specimens from clients place of residence to include facilities.
21. Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinic Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
1. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
2. One year experience with a frail or elderly population preferred.
3. Certification preferred.
4. Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
