Orthopedic Center of Illinois, a private practice surgeon group is seeking motivated and energetic Medical Assistants certification is a plus) to join our team. May be required to travel to satellite offices (Decatur, Lincoln, Jacksonville, Litchfield) to support clinics at these locations.
- Medical Assistant Responsibilities
- Under direction of Physician (Surgeon) and or PA/NP provide care to patients in clinical operation
- Provides individualized care in collaboration with patient and his/her family under the direction of physician
- Obtain and accurately record patient vitals, history
- Complete and document: care provided, patient communication, procedures performed
- Supports physician by providing appropriate patient materials, explaining procedures and assisting physician in delivering care to patients
- Manage physician/clinic schedule to maximize scheduled appointments
- Coordinating surgical procedures with multiple hospitals and surgery centers, scheduling and obtaining pre-operative testing, writing and communicating surgery orders, and collecting necessary surgery documentation
- Perform medical reception/clerical duties as needed including answering phones, screening calls, taking messages, working task list, pulling patient information, copying, faxing and filing
- Preferred Skills/Experience/Certifications
- High School diploma or GED and current CMS or RMA certification (AAMA, NCCT or AMT)
- Current CPR certification
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to all patients served
- Strong customer service and effective communication skills
- Patient-first approach to care
- Will serve as back-up for other clinical staff as needed
