Job Summary
Perform administrative duties that might include, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and data entry in medical records under the direct supervision of a supervisor or provider. Clinical duties will include measuring and recording vital signs, collecting demographics or medical information including review of medication list, preparing patients for examination, cleaning rooms and equipment and stocking supplies. Depending on location and training, the MA III may draw blood or perform waived testing on specimens. This position will involve the administration of medications.
Job Requirements
- Education
- Required: Graduated from a formal MA training program that included pharmacology class, anatomy/physiology, the basics of medication administration, and completion of a clinical externship, OR graduated with an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Diploma.
- Experience
- Required: None
- Preferred: Previous experience in health care setting, particularly in an ambulatory clinic setting
- Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Carry out delegated tasks as directed by supervisors or with provider oversite.
- Proficient Computer skills
- Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Required: Certification from a program recognized by CoxHealth - CMA (AAMA – American Association of Medical Assistants) OR RMA (AMT – American Medical Technologist, or American Association of Medical Personnel) OR NCMA (NCCT - National Center for Competency Testing), CCMA (NHA - National Healthcareer Association), NRCMA (NAHP- National Association for Health Professionals ), OR LPN.
- Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days
LPN Job Summary
The clinic nurse assesses patient health problems and needs, develops and implements nursing care plans, maintains medical records, and assists the physician with office procedures as needed. This nurse will administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients of various age groups. The clinic nurse may advise patients regarding health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management as needed.
