Overview:
This role is generally responsible for providing clinical support in an outpatient vascular medical office
The Medical Assistant will collaborate with clinical leadership to provide the best care to vascular patients.
This is a full-time role at 40 hours a week and will report to the Office Manager for operational matters and to clinical leadership for clinical matters.
Responsibilities:
Assist as needed with patient care, including:
Provide compassionate patient support and care, attention and assistance during office visits
Set-up room for patient procedures and ensure sterile environment
Follow accreditation guidelines and document as needed
Records patients' vital signs and maintains provider's notes
Ensure patient medical records are comprehensive and complete
Assist provider during office visits and procedures
Assists as needed with daily operations of the clinic and office-based lab, including:
Assisting with scheduling patient appointments and maintaining communication to confirm future appointments
Maintaining patient medical information, including medical history and health insurance
Maintains orders and stocks supplies
Managing office telephone, including answering calls and provide 24-hour call backs to patients as needed
Cleaning and sterilization of equipment
Proper disposal of medical waste in accordance with facility guidelines
Prepare exam rooms and assist physicians and other clinical staff as needed
Provide coverage until practice is closed for the day or last patient has left if after closing hours
Maintains HIPAA guidelines
Maintain compliance databases
Complete ad hoc projects as requested
Requirements:
Completion of Medical Assistant Program and certification as a Medical Assistant
BLS certification
Proficiency in administrative tasks
1+ year experience in a medical setting, ideally surgical
Willing to be available for local and/or regional assignments as needed
Basic understanding of clinical tasks
Excellent interpersonal skills and exceptional attention to detail
