About the Job
Responsible for assisting with examination and treatment of patients and performing miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of physician. Gives injections, administers basic treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests. Keeps billing records, enters financial transactions into bookkeeping ledgers, and computes and mail monthly statements to patients.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients and asks patients questions regarding injury or ailment.
2. Takes vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts.
3. Cleans and sterilizes instruments and hands instruments and materials to the physician as directed.
4. Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.
5. Manages the medical inventory and orders medical supplies and materials.
6. Operates x-ray, electrocardiograph (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests or calls medical facility or department to schedule patients for tests.
7. Schedules appointments, collects money for bills, keeps x-ray and other medical records, performs secretarial tasks, and completes insurance forms for patients.
8. Keys data into the computer system to maintain office and patient records.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
