Responsibilities:
The Medical Assistant provides on-site attendant care to adolescents residing in Newport Healthcare at assigned facilities. The Medical Assistant is expected collaborate and work directly with the Medical, Clinical and Care Coordinator staff to provide a high level of client care. to perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and core values of Newport Healthcare and comply with all policies and procedures, OSHA, HIPPA, local, state, and federal, regulations.
PM Shift: 2:30p - 11p, Sun - Thurs
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor chronic health conditions including, but not limited to diabetes, respiratory distress, and seizures, if applicable.
- Obtain patient data and vital signs and reports findings to the medical team or medical practitioner.
- Conduct medical tests including, but not limited to, TB tests COVID-19 nasal swabs, urine drug screen, and breath alcohol tests.
- Collect blood and/or urine samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Comply with all reporting requirements, biohazard program requirements, medical protocols, etc.
- Prepare and administer medication under supervision.
- Count medications (incoming and inventory).
- Audit as requested by Manager, Nursing.
- Prep admissions bins and discharge medications.
- Attend meetings per prior arrangement and participate as an interdisciplinary team member.
- Fax and scan documents.
- Administer Medications once MAT certified per state regulations
- High school degree or equivalent required
- Certification from an accredited training program required.
- Six months’ prior experiencepreferred
- Experience in residential care preferred
- EMR savvy
- MAT certified preferred or must become certified within 60 days
Salary Range:
$19.77- $21.00 per hour, based on education and experience
