Townsen Memorial Surgery Center is hiring for a full-time Medical Assistant to join our hospital located in Spring, TX. The Medical Assistant supports a positive patient experience by performing administrative and clinical duties under the direction of the nurse manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrates Customer Service Standards (smiles and makes eye contact, greets each patient and visitor, seeks out patient and visitor contact, displays appropriate body language at all times, take 5 minutes each day to go above and beyond for one patient or visitor, honor diversity and thanks each customer)
- Move patients through appointments as scheduled
- Escort patients around the facility, measures vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and give the information to the assigned nurse
- Confirm patient' DOB and full name prior to interventions
- Maintains and responds to e-mails
- Assist nursing staff with cleaning and stocking clinical areas with adequate medical supplies
- Responds and comply to requests for information including sending faxes and e-mails
- Ensures completeness and accuracy of all documentation
- Report statistics as required
- Uses downtime efficiently, aware of team members workload and constantly offers assistance and responds positively to requests for assistance from other team members
- Protects patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records in accordance with policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements
- Follows all safety rules on the job. Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace
- Assist staff in Pre-Op and PACU, under the direct supervision of an RN
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology
- Strong attention to detail: being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks
- Ability to adapt with flexibility: being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace
- Ability to work independently by guiding oneself with little or no supervision and depending one oneself to get things done
- Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
- Excellent, polished patient interaction skills. Ability to communicate professionally with patients
- Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word & E-Clinical
- Energetic with a desire to learn and develop new skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or its equivalent
- Minimum 1 years in Acute Care Setting
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
