Overview: Shekinah Health is urgently seeking a Licensed Clinical Professional (RN/LPN/CMA) who will help manage patient care under the direction of licensed healthcare providers. The candidate will complete clinical tasks while positively engaging with patients and colleagues.
To excel in this position, the candidate should have the following skills, among other interpersonal attributes: proactive, a good listener, contributor, patient, and attentive. The candidate will work closely with the Office Supervisor and Referral & Record Coordinator to deliver personalized Patient-Centered care.
Medical Assistant Duties
- Room patients, obtain vitals, patient history, and reason for seeking care
- Perform basic triage per specific office protocol procedures
- Follow prescription refill procedures
- Maintain patient records confidentially per HIPAA guidance
- Record patient charges and lab charges for billing department
- Track lab orders and referrals
- Assist the provider with patient education pertaining to their ongoing health care: Results of lab and x-ray reports, Diet and exercise and Laboratory and radiology preparation
- Respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per office protocols
- Maintain work area, exam rooms, supplies, medications, and immunizations
- Assist with administrative duties on a timely manner, as needed
- Assist with insurance and billing procedure, as needed
- Adhere to human resources and operations guidelines including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and professional appearance and conduct
- Establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with providers and staff
- Ability to work effectively in a busy or stressful medical office environment
- Perform other medical assistant and operations duties as assigned
Phlebotomists Duties:
- Draw blood from patients and donors
- Collect other specimens like urine, sputum, and throat swabs.
- Explain procedure to patients and help calm them down if they are nervous
- Label and store blood samples, and prepare them for testing at a major lab (Quest, LabCorp, American Lab)
- Take patient vitals, such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Help patients resolve issues and handle patient concerns, especially regarding their lab order.
- Perform screening tests and report results
- Resolve ambiguous test orders by contacting physicians or other staff
- Comply with facility, laboratory and hospital policies and procedures, as well as safety practices
- Review training materials and sign off on documentation.
- Organize their work area, reorder supplies, and clean up after each patient
- Share knowledge of phlebotomy techniques and medical terminology with staff and patient (as needed)

The Medical Assistant with Phlebotomy Experience plays a vital role in providing quality care to patients and ensuring efficient clinic operations. By fulfilling the responsibilities and demonstrating the key skills listed above, this position contributes to the overall success of the healthcare center by delivering excellent patient care and maintaining high standards of professionalism.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate from an approved Medical Assistant, School of Nursing or Licensed Practical Nurse schools or institutions.
- Active Medical Assistant Licensure in the State of Florida or Eligible for RN/ LPN Licensure in the State of Florida
- Active Phlebotomy Certification, Collection & Processing Specimen Experience
- Knowledge of phlebotomy techniques and medical terminology
- Minimum of 5 years of Certified Medical Assistant or Clinical Professional experience
- Command of the English language to communicate in person, by phone and in writing. Spanish is a plus.
- Active CPR and BLS certification and history of adherence to yearly renewal notice
- Experience & Knowledge of medical terminology and billing procedures including CPT & ICD-10 coding procedure, medications and injection
- Showcase continuous renewal of active Licensure with the State of Florida
- Showcase adherence to medical office policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.
- Provide 1-3 references from your most recent healthcare position
- Showcase the ability to work with various Medical Office technology platforms (Dr. Chrono EMR experience is a plus) and Microsoft Office (Outlook & SharePoint experience is a plus).

Physical Requirement:
- Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone. Able to use stethoscope and respond to verbal questions.
- Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly with the patients in person and over the telephone.
- Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
- Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted including assisting patients when required
Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service. Requires some bending, reaching, frequent repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift. Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
