Practice Overview:
Join a dynamic specialty medical practice with 6-8 doctors, focused on providing top-tier care through office visits, specialty outpatient surgeries, procedures, and hospital visits. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to manage the complex billing needs of our practice.
Position Summary:
The Part-Time Medical Biller will be responsible for handling all aspects of the billing process, including processing claims, handling appeals for billing rejections, and posting payments. The ideal candidate will have experience with California Medi-Cal billing, Medicare, HMO/PPO plans, and a strong understanding of ICD-9 coding. The preferred working hours are 8am-2pm or 9am-3pm, Monday through Friday, allowing for a consistent schedule without the need for a lunch break.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process medical billing for office visits, specialty outpatient surgeries, procedures, and hospital visits.
- Handle California Medi-Cal billing, Medicare, and all major HMO/PPO insurance plans.
- Manage appeals for billing rejections and handle rebilling when costs are returned lower than expected.
- Perform accurate ICD-9 coding for all claims.
- Post payments received via ACH to the practices bank account.
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of claims and follow up on any outstanding payments.
- Collaborate with the practices administrative team to ensure smooth billing operations.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller in a specialty medical practice or similar setting.
- In-depth knowledge of California Medi-Cal billing, Medicare, and HMO/PPO insurance plans.
- Proficiency in ICD-9 coding.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing claims.
- Ability to handle billing appeals and rebillings efficiently.
- Experience with posting payments via ACH.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
