Medical Billing Clerk II - 4S

Location: Onsite - CBP Headquarters at the Ronald Reagan Building (1300 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC, 20004).

Must be a US Citizen eligible for a DoD Secret Clearance.



Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense (DoD) active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Salary Range - $45,000 - $55,000

Job Summary:

Medical Billing Clerk II needed to support Customs Border Protection/Office of the Chief Medical Officer in preparing, verifying, and processing a wide variety of medical billing and other clerical documentation for services provided to patients. A Department of Homeland Security background investigation is required (will postpone actual start date a few months)

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, verify, and process a wide variety of medical billing for services provided to patients.
• Perform accurate and timely data entry of codes and other information into electronic billing software programs.
• Perform reconciliation of remittances, post payments to patient accounts and research and resolve discrepancies.
• Provide information and assistance to other support staff, supervisors and managers regarding medical coding and billing procedures to ensure accurate data is available for medical billing.
• Prepare statistical data or reports concerning billing activities and statistics.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a hospital, medical office or public health setting preparing and processing electronically generated medical billing.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Detailed-oriented, self-starter experienced in supporting medical technical and business professionals.
• Knowledge of and experience in Office 365, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel.

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. The position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and the location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. Possible lifting up to 50 lbs.
