Medical Billing/Receivables - Days - Vestavia, AL - Children's of Alabama

Full time – Day Shift – 8:00am-5:00pm – Monday-Friday

Job Summary

Responsible for timely follow up of all outstanding claims with third party payers and patient responsibility.  Performs accurate billing and appropriate reconciliation of charges in a timely manner.  Ensures cash/insurance payment posting activities are accurate and completed in at timely manner.  Responsible for obtaining and documenting patient referrals to specialty physicians as required by physicians and insurance providers.

Job Responsibilities

Post insurance payments to patient accounts.

Research and correct denied claims.

Follow-up and resolve outstanding insurance claims.

Maintain current knowledge of insurance filing and appeals procedures.

Obtain, document, and follow-up of referrals to specialist.

Post charges

Handle insurance and billing inquiries.

Monitor outstanding and overdue accounts including payment arrangements.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent is required.  CPC certification is preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 1 to 3 years of medical office/healthcare experience billing or accounts receivable is required with knowledge of insurance payment posting and follow-up.

Experience, Skills, and Abilities

Experience with EPIC billing is a plus! Must be able to work independently, multi-task and communicate on varying levels, both written and oral, is needed.
