The Medical Billing Records Specialist is responsible for maintaining patient files and statistics along with responding to requests for medical records. This position reports to the Accounts Receivable Manager.
- Maintains patient files on electronic medical record application.
- Responds to written or telephonic requests for medical records in a timely manner.
- Responds to subpoenas according to operational standards.
- Retrieve patient information as directed.
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to professional standards, UVVC policies and procedures, and federal and state requirements.
- Communicate problems or irregularities according to established procedures.
- Serve as back-up to patient collections to cover lunch breaks and/or absences.

- Maintain the confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with UVVC policies, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other applicable laws and regulations. PHI is a top priority of our organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
- HS Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with medical records in the healthcare industry.
- Experience working with eClinicalWorks preferred, but not required.
- Must exhibit patient confidentiality at all times.
- Must be detail oriented and able to work with changing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
