In addition, we provide medical management in 13 Nursing Homes/Long-Term Care (LTC) setting.

Serving as an insurance billing specialist for our primary care clinical/long-term care practice, the Medical Billing Rep. is responsible for organizing our patient's medical costs and sending invoices to collect payment from patients and their insurers.

Responsibilities include transcribing diagnoses and treatments into codes for medical billing using information from each patient's chart to submit to the insurance companies through our AthenaOne EMR system.

May also be calling patients to discuss payment and develop reasonable payment plans, entering patient data into administrative systems and recording information about outstanding claims.

Duties include:

• Reading and analyzing patient records/charts
• Determining the correct codes for patient records
• Using codes to bill insurance providers
• Interacting with physicians/Nurse Practitioners and medical office staff to ensure accuracy
• Keeping track of patient data over multiple visits
• Managing detailed, specifically-coded information
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and information security
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• At least two years' experience in medical billing and coding with an EMR system; (Athena is a +).
• Proficient knowledge of CPT codes using EMR systems.
• Experience multi-tasking, working in a fast-paced medical office setting.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Certified coder credentials (AAPC/CPB, etc. is a +)
• Experienced in a deadline-driven/results & quality-oriented environment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, especially with virtual interactions.
• Microsoft Office Suite & Google workspace proficiency
• Complies with all EMC's policies and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills and functions as a positive team member.
• Ability to sit for long periods of time and use a pc keyboard.
• Able to deal with stress and conflict appropriately.
• Position may be remote or onsite/based in one of our clinical locations
