DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. The Billing Specialist will be responsible for accurate claims submission, organizing and maintaining patient records, and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance companies and patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing procedures and regulations, excellent attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for patients.
- Submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by mail.
- Follow up on outstanding claims and resolve billing discrepancies and denials.
- Communicate with patients to collect outstanding balances and explain billing processes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations and reimbursement policies.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve billing issues and ensure proper payment.
- Other duties as applicable
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing.
- Proficiency in using medical billing software.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of insurance billing policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and medical privacy laws.
