Job Description
Accurately assigns, sequences, and abstracts appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 Codes. Accurately assigns the Diagnostic Related Group (MS-DRG) to discharged patients. Meets established productivity standards and accuracy rates. Monitors the productivity and accuracy rates of Coding personnel. Provides training in coding guidelines and practices, and proper documentation guidelines. Provides training in coding guidelines and practices, and proper documentation guidelines.
Monitors and trends the assignment of Coder Queries by the Coding personnel. Monitors trends by physicians for the types and timeliness of Coder Queries assigned.
Performs data quality reviews ensuring coding compliance by rendering monthly retrospective audits to ensure OIG compliance.
Ensures compliance with all federal regulations with NCD’s and LCD’s for medical necessity.

Evaluate the quality of documentation in the chart. Works closely with the Clinical Documentation Improvement Team to make recommendations and implement changes.
Monitor and respond to Medicare, Medicaid, Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC), and other third party audits for coding and DRG changes, and /or denial letters.
Education Requirements
RHIA, RHIT or CCS, CPC certification or equivalent certification/degree
High School Diploma with previous management experience
Associates Degree (preferred)
Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
