The Medical Director plays a vital role in fostering a compassionate, patient-centered environment where healing and recovery thrive. With a deep commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and whole-person care, the Medical Director brings a holistic perspective that honors the essential role of family, culture, and support systems in each individual’s recovery journey.

In this impactful leadership role, the Medical Director collaborates with Division leadership to drive quality and clinical improvements that elevate the standard of care across programs. This position is pivotal in steering risk management and accreditation efforts, ensuring the division's highest quality assurance standards. The Medical Director also provides expert consultation to treatment teams, reviews key admission decisions, and offers direct psychiatric care—including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)—to participants in both outpatient and residential settings, supporting each client within our client’s comprehensive continuum of care.

You need:

1. Master’s Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; Doctorate preferred.
2. Licensed as an NP at time of employment, in the State of Alaska.
3. Active license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Alaska.
4. Five (5) years of experience in psychiatric prescribing and the provision of mental health services.
5. Two (2) years of documented experience providing specialty addiction treatment.
6. Three (3) years of administrative management and/or clinical supervisory experience in behavioral health and/or residential and outpatient substance use treatment settings, including duties related to program planning and evaluation.
7. Must have current CPR certification and proof of active CPR certification before employment, or within 30 days of starting employment.
8. Obtain Qualified Addiction Professional (QAP) approval within three (3) years of the Provisional Provider Application approval date with the State of Alaska.
9. Demonstrated competency in assessment and diagnosis, including but not limited to: conducting an accurate participant history, performing appropriate physical examinations, and detecting signs of chronic use; screening for and diagnosing SUDs, intoxication, withdrawal, and common comorbidities/co-occurring issues; formulating reasonable differential diagnoses; explaining diagnoses and rationale to treatment team, participant, and participant’s supports when applicable; ordering appropriate diagnostic tests (lab tests, drug tests, toxicology, etc.).
10. Demonstrated competency in providing medical management for low to medium-level complexity psychiatric conditions using appropriate assessment instruments to guide decision making.
11. Strong knowledge of the Medicaid billing process.

Preferred:

1. Board certified in addiction medicine or addiction psychiatry.
