About the Job
Position: Medical Lab Scientist
Location: Sitka
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
- Perform a range of testing services, including CLIA-defined high-complexity tests and laboratory services.
- Evaluate and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and identifying inconsistencies.
- Provide expertise in microbiology, transfusion medicine, molecular biology, and infectious disease safety.
- Conduct patient specimen testing and ensure sample suitability.
- Collaborate with medical staff, troubleshoot issues, and provide training to new team members.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensure quality control, and support laboratory inspections from regulatory institutions.
- Review and update lab protocols and procedures, and support inventory maintenance.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certifications: Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (AMT), or equivalent certification.
Experience and Skills:
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of progressive clinical experience or a hospital internship after degree completion.
- Skills: Proficient in all laboratory testing levels, laboratory information systems, and quality control practices.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with CLIA, Joint Commission, CAP, and other regulatory requirements.
- Abilities: Capable of interpreting lab reports, ensuring specimen accuracy, and training staff.
Benefits
Salary: 65000-95000$/year
