Individual performs tasks, duties and/or complex tests in all areas of the laboratory assigned (hematology, bacteriology, chemistry, blood bank) according to established laboratory protocols and procedures. Medical Laboratory Technicians/Technologists operate equipment or instruments necessary to perform high volume, less difficult analytical tests. Recognizing instrument malfunction and making simple corrections using preset
strategies or notifying a supervisor. Individuals are responsible for performing and recording all quality control procedures required for tests assayed as well as recognizing abnormal or unusual test results and following departmental policy for reporting critical values.
