- Maintain that all aspects of drawing, processing, and handling of all specimens in our laboratory are carried out in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner
- Uphold that orders for blood draws when received are properly and efficiently executed by the Medical assistant team.
- Monitor integrity of patient specimen collection processes.
- Keep the Lab Leadership informed of all laboratory, phlebotomy and personnel issues.
- Monitor that all of the Doctor’s office laboratory processes (CBC, urine dipstick, PT/INR, glucose etc.) are performed accurately and efficiently. To include instrument maintenance, QC, calibration and proficiency testing.
- Update manuals Laboratory / Phlebotomy procedures and specimen requirements as updates are introduced.
- Monitor that all written records including temperatures are accurate and legible.
- Monitor that supplies and equipment inventory ordering and storing (rotation of stock) is being done accurately and efficiently.
- Make sure chemical hygiene and lab safety procedures are being observed.
- Research specimen requirements for reference labs.
- Arrange for critical, irretrievable specimen handling and transportation arrangements when needed
- Maintain that all new Medical Assistants are adequately orientated and trained and that training is documented for the tasks required
- Enforce and follow all laboratory safety rules and reports any possible hazards to the Lab Leadership
- Trouble-shoot any laboratory instruments including calling Support if needed and keeping the Lab Leadership informed of the malfunctioning of any lab equipment
- Schedule ios Tuesday-Saturday
We require:
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology
- New York State Laboratory Technician license.
- Experienced preferred but not required.
