A New York City-based healthcare network is currently seeking a new Medical Receptionist to join their Internal Medicine team at one of their facilities in Bronx. In this role, the Medical Receptionist will be responsible for providing exceptional front desk support in a healthcare setting. This role involves managing patient appointments, handling administrative tasks, and ensuring smooth communication between patients and medical staff.
About the Opportunity:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 8am to 5pm or 8:30am to 5:30pm or 9am to 6pm
- Setting: Clinic
Responsibilities:
The Medical Receptionist will:
- Greet patients and visitors warmly and check them in for appointments.
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments as needed.
- Verify patient information, including insurance details and personal identification.
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff.
- Collect and process patient payments, including co-pays and outstanding balances.
- Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure timely and accurate patient care.
- Prepare and manage patient paperwork, including intake forms and consent documents.
- Assist with medical record management, including filing, scanning, and data entry.
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk and waiting area.
- Order and manage office supplies, including medical and office inventory.
- Ensure all office equipment is functional and report any issues.
- Provide patients with information about procedures, policies, and office protocols.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to coordinate patient care.
- Handle patient concerns and resolve issues in a professional and empathetic manner.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical office administration is a plus.
- Previous experience in a medical office or similar environment preferred.
- Proficiency with office equipment, electronic medical records (EMR) systems, and basic computer applications.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality.
