Overview
Plans, develops, and administers health information system for health care facility consistent with facility policies and procedures and standards of accrediting and regulatory agencies by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs activities of staff related to reviewing medical case histories; coding diseases and treatment procedures; filing, withdrawing, issuing, and maintaining case files; and interpreting and editing patient files and forms.
- Creates digital copies and stores the records electronically and accurately.
- Answers inquiries relating to information contained in patients' charts.
- Responds to subpoenas for medical or clinical records.
- Safeguards patient records, ensuring it is HIPPA compliant.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum requirement of one year work experience with medical records, or related medical office experience.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
Starting Pay: $16.00/hr - $18.00/hr (Negotiable based on experience)
