YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- File Management:
- Organize and maintain medical files in compliance with AR 40-66, ensuring all documentation is accurately identified and sequenced.
- Sort and file laboratory slips, consultation reports, and other essential documents, returning unsecured items to the appropriate clinics.
- Data Compilation and Reporting:
- Cross-reference indices and compile statistics related to medical care for reporting purposes.
- Assist with record dispositions, ensuring original documents are forwarded only after final approval; maintain copies at the clinic.
- Record Review:
- Conduct thorough reviews of medical records for proper sequencing, checking for duplicates, and ensuring accurate information is shared.
- Adhere to guidelines regarding the release of patient medical information, preparing records for charge-out as needed.
- Productivity & Compliance:
- Adhere to productivity standards and maintain a level of performance consistent with other team members.
- Ensure compliance with health, immunization, and vaccination requirements, and complete all specified DoD, DHA, and MTF training.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least one (1) year of college.
- Must be a United States citizen.
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience within the last three (3) years as a medical records clerk in a hospital, clinic, or doctor’s office.
Licensure & Certifications:
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Skills & Competencies:
- Detail-Oriented:
- Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
- Data Management:
- Proficiency in data entry and management systems, ensuring records are comprehensive and easily accessible.
- Team Collaboration:
- Excellent communication skills for effectively coordinating with medical staff and ensuring compliance with filing protocols.
- Confidentiality Awareness:
- Understanding of HIPAA guidelines and patient confidentiality, ensuring all patient interactions and records are managed with discretion.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Location:
- Work will primarily be performed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center (WBAMC) and affiliated facilities within a forty (40) mile radius with potential assignments based on operational needs.
Schedule:
- Hours may vary based on mission requirements, including surge support during mobilizations and demobilizations. Flexibility is required to meet mission demands.
Compliance:
- Track working hours in the Defense Medical Human Resources System – internet (DMHRSi) and other systems as required.
