Hours: 1st Shift, 8 AM to 5 PM
Pay Rate: $39.50/hour
Position Description:
The Medical Records Program Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the medical records program at the Arizona State Veteran Home in Flagstaff. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and Veterans Affairs (VA) regulatory standards and plays a critical role in maintaining accurate, accessible, and confidential medical records. The supervisor will oversee Medical Records Technicians and implement Arizona Management System (AMS) methods to improve workflow efficiencies and drive continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct and monitor complex and routine audits of medical records for accuracy and completeness.
Track audit results and report findings to Department Heads and Administration.
Ensure compliance with Medicare, long-term care, and physician visitation requirements through audits and data analysis.
Serve as the facility's official Custodian of Records, processing all legal document requests and ensuring compliance with laws governing medical records.
Supervise Medical Records Technicians, manage staff performance, and oversee credentialing for Physicians.
Implement and adhere to AMS processes and participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs.
Compile statistical data and generate reports to assist in decision-making.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience:
Supervisory experience: At least 1 year in a healthcare setting.
Experience in long-term care.
Strong auditing and analytical skills.
Knowledge of federal, state, and VA regulations for medical records.
Interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
In-depth knowledge of Veterans Administration, CMS, and state regulatory standards.
Familiarity with ICD coding and indexing.
Understanding of Medicare, AHCCCS, and HIPAA regulations.
Experience in medical records retention and disposal processes.
Education Requirements:
Required: Master’s Degree in Social Work (LMSW) with an active license from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners.
Preferred: 2 or 4-year degree in Healthcare Management.
