Medical Records Specialist at TEKsystems

Job Description:

• Primary Function: processing medical records and pulling patient charts. Requests are sent out based on the type of request (continuity and attorney) and urgency.
• Specialists receive 40-50 phone calls a day as well as fax, email, and walk-ins for medical record requests.
• These requests can be from patients, attorneys, disability claims, etc.
• For patients, any request 9 pages or under they will physically pull the records but anything over that, will be faxed or sent electronically.
• For any attorney requests, they will send to the distribution center to be double-checked, and then the center will send the records out.
• Completes release of information requests including retrieving patient's medical chart and returning chart, scanning medical record accurately and correctly and transmitting daily, according to requests, established procedures, and established standards of quality and productivity.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma (GED) required
• A minimum of 2 years prior experience in a medical records department or like setting preferred
• Customer service experience is a must
• Must have strong computer software experience -- general working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required
• Excellent organizational skills a must
• Must be able to type 50 wpm
• Covid-19 vaccination
• This role has a physical aspect to it. A lot of walking around and pulling/grabbing boxes that contain medical records.
