Jamestowne post acute rehab in Hamilton, OH is seeking a Medical Records Specialist.
This position is responsible for the daily clerical functions in support of maintaining client medical records using an electronic medical records (EMR) system and adequate inventory levels of medical supplies for the nursing department.

Experience: Minimum of one-year experience in a clerical support role, preferable in a nursing or clinical environment.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, full time
Compensation: $16-19/HR, depending on experience
Responsibilities:- Provides administrative support to the nursing department in the facility.
- Assists in developing and implementing procedures to ensure medical records are properly assembled, coded, signed, indexed, etc., before filing and/or retrieving. Collects, assembles, checks, and files client charts as required.
- Collects and retrieves medical records for ADR’s and sends to requesting entity in a timely manner.
- Collects and files / uploads all client medical records into the appropriate area of client chart in a timely manner.
- Mail or fax doctors’ orders for nursing.
- Ensures that all personnel follow established policies and procedures for the medical records area.
- Reviews medical records and medical supply policies and procedures, at least annually, and participates in making recommended changes.
- Ensure the established medical records retention policy and procedures are completed and followed.
- Establishes and maintains positive relationships with multiple vendors and oversees all nursing department medical supply purchasing and linen rental inventory.
- Establishes, orders, and maintains adequate levels of medical supplies and linens in accordance with policies and procedures. Conducts an annual inventory audit. Informs supervisor of supply and equipment needs of the facility. Runs errands to purchase supplies locally.
- Monitors supply and linen budget amounts and ensures correct coding to budget accounts.
- Order and maintain all office supplies.
- Reviews invoices from routine vendors to ensure accuracy and processes for payment in a timely manner. Oversees daily kiosk supply charges are captured and posted correctly and efficiently.
- Educates staff on a regular basis to proper procedure for retrieving supplies.
- Stocks medical supplies on the units and maintains organization in the supply/linen closets.
Education: High school diploma or GED
Licenses or other required certifications: None
Experience: Minimum of one-year experience in a clerical support role, preferable in a nursing or clinical environment. Previous experience working in or demonstrated comfort working in an Electronic Medical Records system and medical records.
Specialized knowledge, skills, or abilities:
- Ability to demonstrate proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) plus the willingness to learn other computer programs when required

- Must be organized and detailed oriented
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Must be a “team-player” as this position requires daily coordination with other coworkers
