Description We are in search of a Medical Records Technician based in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, United States. This role is within the healthcare industry and offers a long term contract employment opportunity. As a Medical Records Technician, your primary role will be to manage, organize, and maintain patient records in compliance with regulations. You will also be expected to ensure the accuracy of medical documentation, process records for billing purposes, and assist healthcare professionals by providing necessary medical data.
Responsibilities:
- Review patient medical records to verify their accuracy.
- Ensure all medical documentation is complete and in compliance with regulations.
- Input and update information in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Code diagnoses and procedures for billing and insurance purposes.
- Ensure patient information is safeguarded and confidentiality is maintained in accordance with HIPAA.
- Retrieve patient records for healthcare staff as requested.
- Maintain an organized filing system for both physical and digital records.
- Monitor patient accounts and take appropriate action as needed.
- Process customer credit applications accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate customer credit records. Requirements - Proficiency in using medical software such as 3M, Adobe Acrobat, Allscripts, Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), and Cerner Technologies.
- Ability to manage and answer inbound calls efficiently and professionally.
- Experience in auditing medical records and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Knowledge in creating and interpreting charts and graphs to represent medical data.
- Familiarity with clinical trial operations and ensuring adherence to established protocols.
- Strong understanding and practice of compliance within the healthcare sector.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain the confidentiality of patient records.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, medical staff, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Preferred Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related field, or equivalent work experience in a medical records department.
