About the Job
Cancer Partners of Nebraska is seeking a Medical Scribe to join our Radiation Oncology team and work directly with our Radiation Oncologist. Cancer Partners of Nebraska (CPN) serves the Lincoln communityand beyond focusing on personalized treatment plans. We offer comprehensive cancer and urologic care under one roof for patient convenience and support. This position would be available for full-time or part-time 4 days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares and assembles medical record documentation/charts for a physician.
- Enters the patient room with the physician during consultations and follow up appointments to capture and transcribe medical record documentation.
- Updates patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information in the patient chart.
- Prepares and sends all documentation to the physician for review and approval.
- Complies with hospital and medical facility policies, including those relating to HIPAA and Joint Commision.
- Performs other clerical duties and tasks as assigned.
Education and Training:
- High School or GED required.
- College health science study preferred.
- Medical office experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Must demonstrate proficiency in typing and computer literacy for transcription of medical records.
- Strong communication skills for positive interaction with providers, staff and patients required.
- Must be able to assist with operating an efficient clinic and provide compassionate patient care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy strongly preferred.
- Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to learn and proficiently navigate through medical software.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions/directions required.
- Ability to complete all responsibilities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.
- Must maintain confidentiality and understanding of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) at all times.
Working Conditions:
- Requires sitting and standing associated with normal office environment
- Requires close visual acuity including viewing computer terminal. Extensive reading and reviewing of paperwork
- Requires spending large amounts of time talking on the telephone
- Must be able to receive and interpret oral communications accurately to draw valid conclusion regarding insurance coverage and patient financial situations
