Aptive Resources is seeking experienced Medical/Surgical Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide comprehensive care to patients requiring acute medical or surgical interventions at the Atlanta VA Health System. The RN will function both independently and under the guidance of the Nurse Manager or designee, delivering a holistic approach to patient care.
Shifts: Nurses can expect to work eight (8), ten (10), and twelve (12) hour shifts or a combination, with rotating weekends and holidays.
Primary Responsibilities:Patient Care:
- Assess and care for patients with diverse physical and psychological diagnoses.
- Provide care to patients requiring special precautions, such as those in isolation.
- Assume patient care assignments for a group of patients, ensuring their comprehensive care.
- Administer medications (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous) and blood products.
- Perform complex wound dressing care and maintenance.
- Provide care for COVID-19 positive patients and Patients Under Investigation (PUI) for COVID-19.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures:
- Insert and maintain peripheral lines.
- Maintain central lines for the administration of intravenous fluids.
- Perform phlebotomy and bedside testing.
- Provide emergency care as indicated.
Documentation and Communication:
- Verify physician orders.
- Complete and document care accurately according to facility and unit policies.
- Offer psychological support to patients as needed.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with the healthcare team to meet patient care needs.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Licensure: Current, unrestricted RN license from any state in the United States.
- Certification: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate accredited by the American Heart Association.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of current experience in an acute care, medical/surgical unit in an urban, academic Medical Center setting, exclusive of agency assignments. Must have worked within the last six (6) months in the aforementioned settings.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field, but an associate degree, or diploma educational level considered with valid license and current experience
- Graduate of a professional nursing school approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by ACEN, CCNE, or ANCC.
- Strong clinical skills in acute care settings.
- Proficient in the insertion and maintenance of peripheral and central lines.
- Skilled in medication administration and complex wound care.
- Excellent documentation and communication abilities.
- Ability to provide psychological support and handle emergency situations effectively.
- Team-oriented with a focus on collaborative patient care.
- Ability to complete and successfully pass any required government background check
